Emerald Archer: Arrow Season 1 Recap

Everything should feasibly be given a chance, especially thanks to this post-high gloss New 52 world. Even a network. With the CW’s Arrow, one might think they would have a bonus of the lesser-known origin story of Oliver Queen. The series’ fast pace and brutal rate helps give it an edge that seems to work well for it. I did find it a little odd that for the fast pace of the modern world, they use a newscast to report the exploits of the Hood, especially since when’s the last time you’ve gotten your news from TV? Why not have now-blogger Clark Kent report a few of them via Twitter. The dark lighting helps add to the vigilante feel of the underbelly of Starling City.

Greg Belanti, Marc Guggenhiem, Andrew Kreisberg and the rest of their writing team, does a great job where you shouldn’t hate; accept for the moments of nerd rage of changing this character and adding that one. Since this is being done after the entire DC reset and by Hollywood, until we consumers get to making our own content, it comes together quite well.

The directors seem to do a good job of keeping the storylines going with directors from Veronica Mars, Guy Bee and David Barrett who also directed Castle, shows how they know their audience.

The cast’s chemistry works great and shows how even a family with secrets, can still be a family no matter how dysfunctional it is.
Since people keep chatting about bringing Black Canary in, one should ask if they will ever get to the quiver full of Arrow based characters.

I give Arrow’s first season a 4 of 5.
Definitely worth watching and I’m excited to see what they do next season in the Fall.
